Grandma's Easy Stew

A slow-simmered beef stew with potatoes, carrots, and celery, finished with peas, corn, gravy mix, and ketchup.

Steps

  1. Brown the stew meat in 3 tbsp of oil.

  2. Add the onions and celery and saute until slightly tender.

  3. Add about 4 cups of water and simmer for 2 hours.

  4. Add the potatoes and carrots.

  5. Cook on low for 1-2 hours.

  6. Just before serving, add the peas, corn, gravy mix, and ketchup.

  7. Cook for another 30 minutes or so.

Notes & tips

  • Start the stew early in the day to allow enough time.
  • Can be served with crackers, rolls, cornbread, etc.
