Steps
In a tall, pre-warmed pot, add half to 3/4 of a stick of butter with the 1 lb of ground beef.
Add gourmet burger seasoning until all the meat is covered, then add all the other seasonings. Add a lot of seasoning, because the water and evaporated milk will water it down.
Work all the seasonings into the meat until it is all cooked.
Take the pot off the heat temporarily and add the flour. Work it into the meat. You may need to add extra butter.
Put the pot back on the heat and add the can of evaporated milk and about 3-4 cans of hot water.
Whisk the crap out of it. I mean, really work it, you need that flour to break apart from when we worked it into the meat.
Keep it on medium heat so it does not burn. Continually whisk and bring to a light boil.
Check taste and consistency. Add water and seasonings to preference.
After it has boiled for a minute or so, reduce the heat to low and continue stirring until done.
Serve over biscuits!
Notes & tips
- The butter and flour are what give the SOS its consistency.
- If the gravy is too runny later, add premixed cornstarch to thicken it.
- It is easier to add water later if you add too much flour.
